With a mere DM 2,500, company founder Horst Ehlebracht – just 27 years old – dares to take the step into self-employment in Herford with a used injection moulding machine.
For the first four years of its existence, the young EHLEBRACHT GmbH & Co. KG concentrates exclusively on contract injection moulding work for the phono industry and regional furniture manufacturers. The turnover exceeds the million mark for the first time. With the establishment of Furniture Technology in 1972 and Lighting Technology in 1984, the company continues to grow.
As a pioneering achievement, EHLEBRACHT brings halogen lighting technology into furniture under the ELEKTRA brand. During this time – a phase of constant growth – further companies are established.
Horst Ehlebracht sets an important milestone for the current organization and development of the EHLEBRACHT Group. He leads the group of companies under the umbrella of EHLEBRACHT AG, which was founded as a holding company with 360 employees and an annual turnover of 78 million DM, to the stock exchange.
With EHLEBRACHT SLOWAKEI s.r.o., EHLEBRACHT opens the first foreign plant in Michalovce/Eastern Slovakia.
The EHLEBRACHT Group is streamlined within the scope of a restructuring to the core competences of Plastics Technology and present-day Light and Function Technology.
